Peanut Butter Cookies

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmasssss! All throughout my house! But the prettiest sight to see is the peanut butter cookies in my kitchen! I recently made sugar cookies but Joe is not a fan of them so I asked him which he liked best and he said “Peanutbutter, with Hershey kisses.” So what did I make today?

Peanut butter cookies with Kisses in them!

So, let’s have a little baking lesson!

First, get out your Pyrex. For this recipe, I used my large Terra bowl and small Amish Butterprint dish.

Cream in a large bowl: 1 cup of peanut butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 2 eggs, 1 cup white sugar.

Mix it good!

The recipe doesn’t say to melt/soften the butter, but I do because I don’t have a mixer that will cream the butter easily for me. Use a cup of butter (two sticks)

Softened but mostly melted

After all that, add in 2 ½ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 ½ teaspoon of baking soda, and ½ teaspoon salt. Stir until well blended. Get out your baking sheets and DO NOT grease them…the cookies are greasy enough that they’ll pop right off the rack.

Roll the dough into small balls and bake at 375 for about 10 minutes. Once baked, I allowed to cool for about two minutes because if you place the Kisses in them too soon, they’ll melt.

To help me quickly place the Kisses in the cookies, Joe unwrapped the candies and placed them into my small Friendship Cinderella bowl.

It worked out GREAT! I was plopping them down about as quickly as Joe could unwrap them.

It was really a fun afternoon, since I had never made peanut butter cookies…though they’re probably the easiest cookies to make. Quick, easy, and-hey! They’re already half gone. Time to go have a talk with a cookie hoarded.

Beautiful cookies!!! I have never seen them with the candy. The bowl that you have the butter in is just like mine. I have a set of 3. Two have colors like yours and one, the middle one in size, is like yours. I still have the lids but there are some chips on them. They were a wedding gift in 1962. Have fun. Niko’s picture on my FB page has gotten about 20 comments, all good!!!

    • I love this print but only have this little dish on it. Which picture of Niko do you have up?? I’m so glad its a hit!

It’s the last one you sent, he is looking over Joe’s shoulder and has that wonderful quirky grin. Two of them, both with sons, say he is the cutest baby they have ever seen. It was taken in a store from what I can tell of the background. I thanked everyone. It has been a while since I put one up. Have a good weekend.

  2. Nice one, Butterfly! Good photos, too…
Don’t suppose there are any cookies left?

  3. These look mouth-watering. I don’t think I’ve had chocolate peanut butter cookies since I was 12 — I’m bookmarking this post for sure!
